About

From Circus to Woodwork

Having been a world class circus performer, who has travelled the world displaying her stunt woman skills to different nations –  Tasha has taken the leap into a somewhat quieter life of wood work and toy design. Unlike her past death defying tricks of hanging upside down by her toes and juggling knives, the closest Tash comes to death defying now is navigating the bandsaw and lathe in her workshop (although a couple of stiches this week in her thumb have kept up her love of danger!)

Training

Tasha completed a Foundation Degree in furniture making at the London Metropolitan University, she chose to work at William Warren’s Studio where she competed an assortment of briefs including working with Spitalfields Christmas market, Parker Knoll and researching and designing for the Heals Ambrose collection and exhibiting at Clerkenwell design week.

Tasha’s Woodshed

Since completing this course, Tasha has combined her love of circus and woodwork by developing creative and fun toys that inspire children’s creativity and imaginative play – much like her circus performing once did. On top of designing children’s toys, Tasha has also developed elegant hand turned gifts for big people, she did not want to leave the adults out of all of the fun. Every single one of her items are designed, created and made at her home in Newton Abbot, Devon – her partner (and if their dog Ollie could speak, he would agree) hopes that one day they will have their dining room table back as a place to eat as opposed a place to paint.

Ethics, materials and testing

Tasha only uses certified sustainable wood. All of the wood used is from a local timber yard in Bovey Tracy in Devon – she believes in supporting local businesses as well as protecting our precious environment. Additionally, every item in the shop is sealed with an environmentally friendly, plant based sealant that is easy on the eye and the environment. It goes without saying, that any items that are aimed at children are UKCA tested and all stains, paints, sealants, glue are certified as child safe and non toxic. She recycles package so any plastic you see in package she will have repurposed from somewhere else.
